Everyone dreams of marriage; people make specific plans for the wedding and harbor hopes for the future. Every newlywed couple looks forward to their wedding night with excitement and anticipation, but nothing could be more painful or distressing than discovering a shocking, dark truth about one’s partner on that very first night. A case of this nature recently came to light. The very next day after the wedding night, the bride filed a complaint against the groom with the State Women’s Commission. According to reports, a young woman from Haridwar district had married a man from Yamunanagar, Haryana. After the wedding rituals were completed, the bride was overjoyed upon arriving at her new home; the marriage had been celebrated with great fanfare and the consent of both families. However, something happened on the wedding night that left the bride completely stunned. She immediately left her in-laws’ house, returned to her parents’ home, and revealed the entire truth. The bride disclosed that her husband is gay. She explained that he would wake up at night, apply makeup like a woman, and dress in feminine attire. She recounted, “On the wedding night, I was sitting on the bed waiting for him. He entered and began behaving in a bizarre manner. When I approached him, he recoiled. Initially, he refused to explain, but when I insisted, he revealed the whole truth.” Hearing this truth shattered the bride’s world, and she returned to her parents’ home the very next morning. In their complaint, the bride and her parents stated that over ₹70 lakh had been spent on the wedding. Additionally, the groom had been given a luxury car and a significant amount of gold jewelry, and all demands made by the in-laws had been met. The bride mentioned that they had never met before the wedding; the match had been arranged entirely by their families.  Yet, whenever the bride asked to meet him, the groom would make excuses to avoid it. Whenever she asked to speak via video call, he would only communicate through text messages, cutting conversations short by claiming he needed to go to sleep early. The bride alleges that her in-laws deceived her and her family into the marriage; had there been any such issue, they should have disclosed it beforehand.
